Easter or Unleavened Bread

True Heritage Mission Our Hebrew Heritage Who Is The Creator Choose You This Day Before Abraham Was I AM Paul vs. Scriptures Which Road Will You Choose Easter Or Feast of Unleavened Bread Christmas is It biblical or Not Hebrew Lessons Israelite Links Photo's Visitor's Lounge

Every year around the spring season people get prepared to observe the Holiday "Easter".  This is the time of year people plan Easter Egg Hunts and buy their children Easter baskets and some children also may have an Easter speech to recite in church! Many will say that this holiday called Easter is a biblical observance because of this scriptural error:

Acts 12:4 So when he had arrested him he put him in prison, and delivered him to four squads of soldiers to keep him, intending to bring him before the people after Easter  (KJV).

Now in the original scriptures this passage reads Passover!  Most believers don't even think twice to do research on this so called Holy Day (Easter), that's because they have been programmed to observe and not ask questions on where this observance came from.   Other than the above verse you will not find any other scriptures in the word of Yah that mention Easter but you will always find Passover.

In the book of Exodus Yah spoke to Moses and his brother Aaron telling them how to kill the Passover and keep the Feast of Unleavened Bread. Exodus 12:1-20

Again I stress that many pastors, deacons, ministers, and evangelist will again say that this is all Old Testament stuff and that Christ did away with those things.  Now let's look at what the Father has to say about his Passover and Feast of Unleavened Bread.

Leviticus 23:4-6 These are the feasts of Yahwah, Holy convocations which you shall proclaim at there appointed times.  On the fourteenth day of the first month at twilight is Yahwah's Passover (Sacrifice).  And on the fifteenth day of the same month is the Feast of Unleavened bread to Yahwah; seven days you must eat unleavened bread.

So we see here that Yah's feast are to be kept at the appointed times.  Now let's look at the Messianic Writings or New Testament as some call it:

Luke 22:1;7;8 15-20 1 Now the Feast of Unleavened Bread drew near, which is called Passover.  7 Then came the Day of Unleavened Bread when the Passover must be killed.  8 And He (Yahoshua) sent Peter and John saying " Go and prepare the Passover for us, that we may eat."

Obviously the translators over looked what we covered in Exodus 12.  The Passover was the sacrificing of the lamb only, and the lamb was killed "between the evenings" that is between the 6th and 12th hour. We see here the Messiah told his disciples to prepare the Passover which is done before the Feast of Unleavened Bread begins on the 15th day at sundown.  Remember he was sent to be our Passover lamb when he died "at the 9th hour which is between the "evenings" and shed his blood on the death stake.  Let's continue!

15 Then he (Yahoshua) said to them, "With fervent desire I have desired to eat this Passover with you before I Suffer;

16 For I say to you, I will no longer eat of it until it is fulfilled in the kingdom of Elohim."  17 Then he took the cup and gave thanks and said, "Take this and divide it among yourselves; 18 For I say to you, I will not drink of the fruit of the vine until the kingdom of Elohim comes." 19 And he took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them saying," This is my body which is given for you; do this in remembrance of me."  20 Likewise He also took the cup after supper, saying, " This cup is the new covenant in My blood which is shed for you.

Right there in verse 20 Yahoshua showed us why we should keep the Feast of Unleavened Bread until he returns.  He said this cup is the New Covenant which Yah said would be written in our hearts and the Lamb of Yah was sacrificed for our sins and he shed his blood not only for the children of Israel but as well as the gentiles too.

Let's look at what Paul wrote to the Corinthians

I Corinthians 5:7-8  Therefore purge out the old leaven, that you may be a new lump, since you truly are unleavened.  For indeed Maschiach our Passover was sacrificed for us.  Therefore let us (keep) the feast not with old leaven, nor with the leaven of malice and wickedness, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.

Here we see Paul teaching the Corinthians how to keep the feast and also dropping some spiritual knowledge as well, you know planting the seed and watch the Holy Spirit make it grow.

So where does Easter fit in all of this?  The answer is simple It does not fit.  First of all Easter is a Pagan observance and there is no biblical proof on why we as believers should continue to be blind and observe this Day.  Most will say Messiah rose from the grave early Sunday morning that's why we have Easter Sunrise Service.  Once again the adversary Satan has succeeded in deceiving the world.  Now let's take a look at some hard facts about this Easter thing.

The Britannica Encyclopedia (1934) states:

Easter (es'ter) Ostara, or Eostre was the goddess of Spring in the religion of the ancient Angles and Saxons.  Every April a festival was celebrated in her honor.  With the beginnings of Christianity, the old gods were put aside.  From then on the festival was celebrated in honor of the resurrection of Christ, but was still known as Easter after the old goddess.

As I stated before Easter originated in Paganism needless to say it has nothing to do with the word of Yah or the Messiah!  So why all the Easter plays, dinners, Easter Egg Hunts etc; Many church leaders will say we are celebrating the resurrection of Christ by keeping Easter (hummm)!  Well if you have understanding that the Messiah did not rise from the grave early Sun-day morning then you will be able to see why you should not observe Easter.

Any encyclopedia or dictionary will supply the answer!

Easter had a pre-Christian origin, namely a festival in honor of the Teutonic dawn-goddess Eostre the goddess of fertility.  This type of worship was adopted by or merged with Christianity. (Come Out of Her My People 2001 C. J. Koster)

In 325 A.D. The Roman Empire headed at that time by Constantine took extreme measures to conciliate the pagans to Messianic belief through out the world thus adopting pagan customs and fusing it with the faith that was delivered to the saints.  Now the people of Rome were already practicing paganized customs but unfortunately they also had someone who died and rose again whom they believed in.  Adonis (Tammuz) was also known as Attis.  The worship of Attis was adopted in Rome around 240 B.C.E where the great spring festival in his honor became well known.  This festival came along with the rites of the Pagan Easter we see today Easter Sun-day, Easter eggs and Easter rabbits (bunnies).  Now really when have you known a rabbit to lay eggs (hahaha). At any rate also people make Easter buns, the hot-cross buns the prophet Jeremiah spoke of.

Jer 7:18 The children gather wood, the fathers kindle the fire, and the women knead dough, to make cakes for the queen of heaven; and they pour out drink offerings to other gods, that they may provoke me to anger.

We see here that Yahwah does not accept this kind of practice.

Deuteronomy 12:30-31 "Take heed to yourself that you are not ensnared to follow them, after they are destroyed from before you, and that you do not inquire after their gods, saying, How did these nations serve their gods?  I also will do likewise.'  You shall not worship Yahwah your Elohim in that way; for every abomination to Yah which He hates they have done to their gods; for they burn even their sons and daughters in the fire of their gods.

Shall we continue to observe the things our heavenly Father hates?

Deut 12:32 WHATEVER I COMMAND YOU, BE CAREFUL TO OBSEVE IT; YOU SHALL NOT ADD TO IT NOR TAKE AWAY FROM IT!

Let those who have an ear for understanding take heed and repent from these pagan customs and return to the Holy One of Israel!

Grace and Peace in the name of Yahoshua

Shalom
