Christmas is it biblical or not?
Christmas is it biblical or NOT?
Jeremiah 10:1-4 Hear the word which Yahwah speaks to you, O house of Israel. Thus said Yahwah, Do not learn the way of the gentiles, and do not be awed by the signs of the heavens, for the gentiles are awed by them. For the prescribed customs of these peoples are worthless, for one cuts a tree from the forest, work for the hands of a craftsman with a cutting tool.
They adorn it with silver and gold, they fasten it with nails and hammers so that it does not topple.
Here we see that Yah does not like the fact that man would put up a tree in his house and bow his knee to receive the gifts placed under that tree. It does not matter what name you call the tree it is still Paganism no matter how you may try to legitimize this custom it is not of Yah.
The following is a quote from the 2000 Encyclopedia Britannica, Volume 11 ; page 390.
"During the later periods of Roman history, sun worship gained in importance and ultimately led to what has been called a 'solar monotheism.' Nearly all the gods of the period were possessed of Solar qualities, and both Christ and Mithra acquired the traits of solar deities. The feast of Sol and Victus (open unconquered Sun) on December 25th was celebrated with great joy, and eventually this date was taken over by the Christians as Christmas, the birthday of Christ."
Notice how it says "both Christ and Mithra acquired the traits of solar deities"? The Christians were apparently trying to get more converts so they tried to "paganize" the Messiah to make Him more attractive to pagans. They even officially brought the feast of the unconquered sun into their worship in 336 AD. This is the origin of Christmas.
But the real question is, "Who converted who?" Do we murder to bring a murderer to Yahoshua? Do we rape to bring a rapist to the Messiah? It is true that by 336AD, the mainstream beliefs of Christianity were already far from the truth the apostles taught anyway. However, even giving them that, shouldn't true believers be teaching the unbelievers the true way of Yahwah rather than the unbelievers teaching believers these pagan customs and practices? Certainly! Yet, the Christians not only learned these heathen ways, they also incorporated them into their worship.
Today Christmas is regarded as the holiest day of the year. The reason for that is because we were taught that Christ was born on December 25th. Truth is that Yahoshua was not born on December 25th but every pagan deity invented was born on this day.
Matthew 15:8-9 These people draw near to me with their mouth. And honor me with their lips, But their heart is far from Me. And in vain they worship Me, Teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.
We see here that Yahoshua spoke to the Pharisees these words. See Yahoshua's whole ministry was about keeping the commandments. He never gave man an excuse to disobey Yah nor did he do away with the law as some are led to believe. At any rate we as believers should think on these things!
1. Is it all right to include pagan customs in our worship?
2. Can we do whatever we feel is right when it comes to being obedient children to our heavenly father? Or should we follow the laws and observe the days He deemed to be holy?
Sadly, most people who profess to be Christians don't take heed to Yahoshua's teaching. For those of you who been mislead to think that all you have to do is "believe" Truth be known you are serving the one true and living Elohim in VAIN! Now that we have covered observing Christmas look back at Jeremiah 10 and see what it speaks of:
Did the tree mentioned in that chapter have a name? It doesn't matter what you call that tree, or WHO you sanctify it to, you cannot mingle heathen practices that Yah have commanded against with the worship of Him. The heathens worshipped this tree, which is why God marveled at the fact that even though YOU chop it down, then YOU set it up in your house and YOU decorate it. YOU place gifts under it so that on that "most holiest day of the year" YOU can BOW DOWN and receive the gifts that this tree god gave you. HUH?! Doesn't make much sense does it? Neither do many of the other traditions that are observed all over the world. I hope that your understanding has been increased from this teaching.
Grace and Peace in Yahoshua's Name!
Shalom
